Showing a single fuel-up

The dash now says that Black Volt has used 17 gallons since it was new in June 2011. This 3 gallons should last 'til June 2015. Unfortunately this site refuses to calculate my gas usage since my numbers are too far outside the norm they are filtered as "unreliable". For those that can do simple math, I am averaging over 1200 "MPG". This does not take into account the electricity I use, which is about $1 for 40 miles. So by subtracting 578 miles on gas I have done 20004 miles on electricity, which "cost" me $500. I say "cost" because my electricity comes from my solar array, so I don't actually pay for it. BTW 578 miles on 17 gallons works out to 34MPG. This looks bad until you consider that a huge part of those miles are spent warming up the engine, and very little of it was long trips. The first year saw 4 "Engine Maintenance" sessions and several times when the engine was needed for only 1 mile to complete a trip, with the longest trip being 10 miles. I then did 380 miles in the course of a week to use the full tank of year old gas, the long trips (160 miles) averaged 40MPG. The next 2 years have been similar, with 7-8 Fuel Maintenance burns and fewer miscalculations of the battery range. I now only put 3 gallons in the tank, which lasts the year, with about 2 gallons left at the end of the year that has to be used up before replacing it.
